“Survival of the fittest”, a theory in which Darwin explains the naturalness of competition. Competition is a natural part of the human experience, its something that motivates us and keeps us engaged. However we need to ensure it remains healthy otherwise it can leave us feeling inadequate.
First and foremost realize that we all have our own journeys and then learn to embrace the uniqueness of that journey. If a person is better than you at something, learn from it and then remember that you are enough because you also have your own beautiful gifts.
Explore these gifts! People get stuck in the herd mentality and limit their growth by not exploring new avenues. Your calling in life may be something that you haven’t yet tried so try new activities, do one thing everyday that scares you! Sing, dance, do yoga (on your beautiful mat), play the guitar, pick up a new sport! Life is full of opportunities and our bodies are full on endless possibilities. Meet exciting people who work on developing their skills and replace the jealousy with inspiration because abundance is out there for you to tap into. Look for mentorship and build your own skills. Be grateful and help others get to your level because as Ram Dass said, “We are all just walking each other home”. Your fellow warriors are a part of the tribe, so help each other become more beautiful, conscious and aware.
Life is not merely about reaching that goal, but about enjoying the journey. I know its clichéd to say that, but think about it for a minute. On the way to achieving your goals you will fall, pick yourself up, learn from mistakes, discover your talents, work on your shortcomings, meet inspiring people, filter out the toxic relationships from your life and so on. So yes it’s a blessing to just be on that journey and even if you don’t reach your goal, you will emerge a richer person.
Remember breathe and keep competition healthy and this means mastering the points above so you end up in competition only with yourself. You are enough, you are unique, and you are better than everyone at being you, so be the best possible version of yourself.
Namaste!
